5 days in Lombok, what to do and see

Lombok brings a choice of adventures all at your fingertips. If you are struggling to decide where to stay with only a short time on the island; then this guide is for you. Make the most of your visit with this itinerary combining a mix of adventure, relaxation and site seeing into five days.

Depending on whether you arrive by plane or by boat, you will arrive in a different part of the island.

If you’re flying in, you will be close to Kuta in the southern end of the island. Otherwise, if you are arriving by boat, you will dock in the north near Senggigi. The port is only about 1 .5 hours by car to Kuta, so you can quickly transfer to the south.

Day 1: (Starting in the south) Take it slow in Kuta

Spend the day at Kuta beach and unwind a bit. Here you will also have an array of activities to join in on, whether it is surfing, standup paddleboarding, kite surfing or paragliding. Enjoy the choice of restaurants and warungs, or opt to relax on the beach with a coconut in hand. Learn to surf in Gerupuk Beach or take a hike to Merese Hill for an incredible view at sunset.

Day 2: Experience the Pink Beach and islands surrounding

The easiest way to fit the most in a day is through one of the many guided tours in Lombok. Visit the Pink Beach for a unique sight; and one of only ten pink beaches in the world. After you have enjoyed the seaside, take a trip to the hidden islands nearby to snorkel at. Be sure to bring your camera along to capture the beautiful surroundings too.

Day 3: Explore the Sasak villages

Plunge straight into Lombok’s culture and learn about the local people. Join a tour and visit Sade and Sukarara Villages, to see up close how the Sasak people hand weave cloth and create beautiful pottery. Or if you prefer physical activity, opt for a cycling tour to explore the villages and learn about local culture; all while getting an incredible view of the natural landscape.

Day 4: Take a cruise around the Gili Islands

See the reason why so many travellers visit the Gili Islands each year and experience the beauty of the islands up close. Explore Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno, with boats connecting each of the islands too. Hire a yacht or join in on a cruise to explore underwater life while snorkelling or watch the sun go down over the ocean from one of the beaches.

Day 5: Wander through waterfalls

On your final day, go chasing waterfalls in the north of Lombok at Bengang Stokel and Benang Kelambu waterfalls, with a swimming hole to spend the day at. Set about 90 minutes from Senggigi, once you have finished swimming, explore the shops and enjoy the sunset over the water with the many bars and restaurants lining the sea.
