Lombok Weather & Best times to visit

Lombok sits close to the equator, which brings constant sunshine and warm tropical temperatures through the year. The wet season falls from October to March while dry season falls from May to September. Temperatures fluctuate steadily between 27 to 32 degrees Celsius. In the wet season, the humidity increases and afternoon thunderstorms roll in. The island is quiet, and it is considered Lombok’s low season. If you prefer a quiet time and can endure the humid weather, then visiting at this time is for you. In April, temperatures drop, and the previous wet season draws to an end, leaving the island’s countryside lush and green.

The ideal time to visit Lombok is from May to June when the days are sunny, and temperatures are moderate. At this time, the weather is still beautiful, with fewer crowds.

Lombok’s high season falls over July and August. Followed by a surge of travellers returning over Christmas and New Years for the holidays. You will notice hotel rates increase over these peak times and the Gili Islands can become very crowded. When planning your trip in the high season, be sure to prebook your accommodation due to limited supply, especially on the Gili Islands.

In the low season from October to April, many tours to Mount Rinjani cannot depart because the pathway becomes too slippery. Yet this is the perfect time for surfers to experience peeling waves along the coastline. Over this period there are also many festivals across Lombok.

Depending on the type of holiday you’re after; escape to the peace and quiet, or visit amid the bustle of high season, to experience Lombok’s warm weather and tropical island feel.
